Collage-Waxed Paper

Here is a new little piece I am working on today.

The wax paper has paint all over it from the yellow water painting I did the other day. I had it in my trash bin. "Hey" I thought, let me try this as a color experiment, rather than a wax paper and paint experiment. So, I gethered a few different colors of my card stock (kind of like color aid paper back in college) and placed different pieces of card stock on top of each other to see what colors worked and complimented each other. Purple and lime green, wow, different combo. I think I am into lime green lately! I just put some lime green sheers on layaway. I had already punched out inchies out of the purple paper so that when I placed it on top of the lime green, it showed like little windows. I then layed the wax paper down and I can see subtle hints of the purple and lime coming through the wax paper.

Next blog, what I decided and came up with to finish this little piece as I cut and place the pieces and teach a color lesson.

You can have your children do this art with you and see the differences. This was acrylic paint I was using and wax paper as my palette; cheap pallette by the way and you can just wrap it up and throw away (or use again:)

No Earl, No Art, Candles and Food

No Earl for us. So, instead of doing art work, or working in my art journal, I was out looking for candles and batteries just in case we got hit in the afternoon. I have family that are vacationing in Chatam at the Cape. We called them, but they didn't pick up or havn't called back yet to let us know if they left to go back home or if they are sticking it out. I bet they are sticking it out! They are kind of risky people.
Well, I got my candles, but no art done.
I got my inchies in the mail yesterday; the inchie swap I was in titled "Butterflies" was awesome. It was the first time I did an inchie, and I have done a twinchie:) Funny names though!

I have been wanting to journal daily. Everytime I start, and I think I am going good, maybe writing creatively every day for a couple weeks, something comes in the way and stops me. Then when I remember, I feel so guilty, I throw the journal away. Why don't I just continue in that journal? I don't know why I have to throw them away. There is something about me not accomplishing my goal to continue writing. I mean, I know that I am not going to be able to write everyday forever, it is an odd feelling and thought.

I love journals and have had a spiritual journal because I am a christian and love writing down my prayers and bible verses. I have had a daily journal. I have a women's journal for teachings that I write for the women and daughters meeting held at my house monthly. I have a sketch journal, an art journal and probably another one that I am forgetting. Oh yes, I have one for decorating ideas, and one for clothing outfits that I want to remember how they are put together so that I can do the same with my clothes. It seems like way too many journals and I would love to put one all together but it hasn't worked yet. Perhaps I will have to make one that has lined paper in it, water color paper in it and a smoother paper in it. That is a good idea.

I think I will see if I can find a couple of videos to watch on how to stitch the journal together. It seems kine of difficult. I guess I have to get over that too-the too difficult stuff.

When I make that type of journal, I will post it!

By the way, go to AJ Wrights, Marshalls, TJMaxx (all of them owned by the same management I believe) to buy your candles. Instead of paying $20.00 at one place for one candle, you can get four or five for the buck. Dollar Tree candles burn out quickly and sometimes the wick is cheap and the candle just won't work any more so be careful what you buy.

Inchies and Twinchies Will Be Coming Soon

Yes, who came up with "inchies" and "twinchies"? They are the smallest piece of art. I actually think I will use tweezers for the placement of pieces next time. Inchies definetely creates an artistic challenge to me. So I am making myself do them by joining a swap at Roses on the Table.
Check her blog out. Lot's to do there and for a low yearly membership because NING changed some things, she has videos and short classes. That is my next purchase real soon I hope. I have been working with herj trading groups and am saddened about the fee, but she is worth it.

Last year, I made two twinchies for Milliande another great woman that you should check out. She does not charge for any of her videos and you can watch them on YouTube. The music she plays in the background is fun and soothing too! She was collecting twinchies and was going to do a huge project with them.

So, off tomorrow, my inchies will go into the mail; all six of them. The theme was on butterflies. I also am participating in a vintage tag swap and only three needed to be made this round. I got those almost done for September and then Marie Antoinette ATC's are up on the agenda.

Off of my feet with an injured knee

Yesterday, my husband, kids and I were all set to head out to Boston. I wanted to walk to Newbury Street to take Dan to a couple of the art galleries that I adore. These galleries are privately owned and have masters works like you can't believe and it is quiet and you can just look, take your time and meditate.
I was fine, got dressed, came downstairs, grabbed my pocket book and out of no where, I got a knife stabbing pain in my left knee cap. If you would know me, I wanted to still go to Boston but my family thought that maybe too much even though I would have sat at a bookstore in the Prudential Center. "No" was the answer so instead we went to a more local bookstore where my daughter helped me get to a table to sit while my husband went to park the car.

I have iced it, rested it, I have sat, sitted and am still sitting:) I have blogged, surfed my favorite blog sites, worked on my inchies for an "inchie" swap and did my three vintage tags. I have a chair that is on wheel-an office type and I rolled to the blower dryer and back to the desk with my leg up. My daughter made home-made chicken soup and my son made a steak dinner last night.

Have I gone to the doctors? Can I shy say no...insuranc.....years ago I broke my other knee; the doctors could not figure out how and neither could I. They said something is different about the anatomy of my knee cap so I am hoping I am not heading in the same direction with this knee now. I had major surgery and orthroscopy could not do the job. My knee is not overly swollen but I can barely walk on it. It feels swollen, week and very painful. Only getting up to go to the bathroom or to my art room because I can't walk anyway. Tomorrow will be day 3 and I guess I'll have to make some decision. So I am so greatful that I got alot of these little artist trading tags and inchies done, I have experiemented alot and have work to show it for along with this tutorial for you.

If you are confused, write to me. I can clarify. I have noticed that when you are writing on your blog, you have to go in the opposite direction to teach step by step and I think I am going with the end results to the beginning. Sorry, I will work on this.
